Watchmen

This Friday, Movie Night In The Back Yard presents Watchmen (2009). After 20 years and many different directors, one of the best graphic novels ever written has finally made it to the big screen. Like most films made from books, it isn't quite as good as the original, but it is surprisingly accurate. Set during the cold war, this unique story about a group of superheros (most of them have no real super powers) is worth seeing even if you haven't read the book, and it is a must see if you have. Those of you who haven't read it, you've got 3 days to get down to Powell's and study up. Don't miss the last show of the summer!

Let the Right One In

This Friday, Movie Night In The Back Yard presents Let the Right One In (2008). Don't miss Norwegian director Tomas Alfredson's thriller about a bullied boy and the young vampire girl that helps him get even. This is the film I've been waiting to see. I've heard that it's beautifully crafted, and I love the tag line: "Eli is 12 years old. She's been 12 for over 200 years, and she just moved in next door."
